On December 3,2011, Frederick Robert Gleissner became the first active duty member of the Palm Coast Fire Department to pass away. Freddy was a volunteer with the Palm Coast Fire Department for the last two years prior to his death. He achieved the rank of Volunteer Firefighter – Paramedic. Freddy was assigned to Station 24 – Palm Harbor Station. Frederick passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010 after a tragic car accident. He was born on April 27, 1986 in Long Island, NY. Frederick was a graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School where he played on the varsity Lacrosse team. A graduate of Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in Criminology also a graduate from Daytona State College in Fire Sciences and the paramedic program. Survivors include his parents, Fredrick (retired New York City Fire Department) and Diane Gleissner of Palm Coast; brother, Greg of Palm Coast; Fiancé, Valerie Davis; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends On December 7, Freddy was laid to rest and was given full department honors. Our department mourns the passing of this terrific person. He will be greatly missed by all of those who have come to know him. A scholarship foundation has been established in Freddy’s name to help an individual persuing a career in firefighting in the State of Florida.
